Kun kasvukeskusten asuntorakentaminen on hiipunut, ulkomaalaista – erityisesti uzbekistanilaista – työvoimaa käyttävät maalausyritykset ovat siirtyneet Pohjois-Suomen työmaille. Siellä rakentajien työllisyys on ollut viime vuosina muuta maata parempaa.
Foreign labour has travelled from south to north

As residential construction in growth centres has waned, painting companies that make use of foreign labour – particularly workers from Uzbekistan – have moved to construction sites in northern Finland. In recent years, employment among construction workers has been better in the north than in the rest of the country.
